Brooklyn native, Tuu Ra was born on March 14th to a Haitian and Jamaican family. Tuu Ra gained a love for music at a young age. Finding inspiration from his father, a musician, and his mother, an educator, he began writing and producing music at fourteen. His first hip hop influences were Rakim, Krs One, Talkib kweli, and Lupe Fiasco. He started making making beats when his mother bought him a keyboard for the holidays and further advanced into electronic production when his father introduced him to fruity loops daw on his laptop. His production styles were influenced by his father firstly and then later Pharrell , Ryan Leslie, and Timbaland to name a few.

In his own words, what sets him apart from other artists, is his commitment to incorporate metaphysics in his music and art. He explains that artistry is important to him because it is a tool to invoke joy and motivation which is needed to accomplish goals in life.
