Tell us a little bit about yourself! When did you discover your love for music?
My musical journey began when I was two years old. My brother propped me onto his lap and would make me play out the songs he was learning on piano by pressing my fingers on the keys. Soon, I began taking piano lessons on my own, and started playing recitals and competitions throughout the northeastern region. When I was six, my mom bought me my first guitar, because I had told her I wanted to be different than my brother. By the age of twelve, I began writing my own music. From then on, it’s been a non stop hustle ever since!
From your bio, we know that you moved from your hometown in Fairfield, CT to NYC to further pursue your musical career. What inspired you to move to NYC and how has the city influenced your music?
I moved from Connecticut to New York when I was 16 to become a rock star (that’s what I told my mom!). She encouraged that I go to college, and I ended up earning my degree at The New School. Along the way, I performed acoustically at open mics and other singer-songwriter sessions to try out my material that I was writing to audiences I didn’t know.
NYC has definitely inspired me to expand my musical horizons. Back in CT, I wasn’t exposed to the underground music scene as much. Being around such diverse and eclectic artists have definitely pushed my limits as both a musician and songwriter.
Outside of your large following here in the US, we heard that you also have a large following in Japan, and even had a 10-day tour in Japan! Tell us more about that!
It was the most RANDOM thing! I got offered to play a festival for a weekend in Japan. I reached out to some bookers and planned a whole tour, making appearances in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kobe with my band. It was such a fun experience. Everyone there was so welcoming and excited to have us perform. I can’t wait to go back one day and perform again.
It sounds like you have had the opportunity to perform at a lot of awesome shows. What has been your favorite performance so far, and why?
I would have to say my favorite performance so far was having the chance to perform with my band at Hard Rock Cafe in Boston. It was a sold out show, and the Hard Rock venues are so legendary to be in.
We’re anxiously awaiting the release of your debut album! What updates do you currently have about the release? Will this album encompass a similar ‘edginess’ as your hit single Glamour Girl ?
I can’t wait to share my album with the world. I can say as of right now all ten songs have been selected for the project, and we are beginning recording the tracks! The album will definitely be edgy, but will also bring out a side of me that hasn’t been seen yet in Glamour Girl or other live performances of my songs.
What can we expect to see from you in 2018 and beyond?
Later this year, I will be releasing my debut album. After its release, I will be going on tour! So keep your eyes PEELED.
