James Lee Lopez is an award winning recording artist, model, and actor from Texas now residing in Los Angeles and New York City. His overwhelming passion for music and the art of singing became more than a hobby at a very young age and pedagogy and understanding vocal technique consumed his world. He excelled in voice, percussion, and piano as a child and when he felt like he had exacerbated all opportunities in his small hometown, Kingsville, his parents agreed reluctantly to let him leave home and attend HSPVA, The HighSchool for Performing and Visual Arts in Houston,TX where he would meet his long time world renowned voice teacher, W. Stephen Smith(Juilliard.)

Lopez performed the lead asTommy Tune at Lincoln Center/AveryFisher Hall and Broadway/Off Broadway credits include Johnny Hero in We Love You, Johnny Hero and Thirteenth Street Repertory 
Company’s production of Elevator Face as Harold. James performed Bizet’s Carmen and Britten’s Billy Budd with the Houston Grand Opera. He also has performed in numerous regional theatre productions 
including (Phantom) The Phantom of the Opera, (Hero) A Funny Thing Happened…, (John) Summer and Smoke, (Papageno)The Magic Flute, and originated the role of Freddie in the world premiere opera Room with a View.

 

James Lee Lopez is a rock musician and because of his rigorous conservatory training, his range covers every spectrum and genre of music comfortably from Opera to Pop. James holds a Masters in Fine Arts in Vocal Performance from The New England Conservatory of Music and a BFA in Vocal Performance from the University of Houston, Moores School of Music where his voice teacher has always been W. Stephen Smith, Juilliard.

 

His idols include Freddy Mercury, Pat Benatar, George Michael, Steve Perry, Amy Winehouse, Billy Holiday and Nina Simone. He has become a regular performer in Los Angeles at the Viper Room, Troubadour, and  The Whisky a GoGo among others.
